Depending on where you live, life might be changing a lot, and by this we mean, things are heating up. When life heats up there’s not much better than firing up the blender and making smoothies. Cold, refreshing and downright delish, all while cramming in veggies and fruits your day may not otherwise see.
Today we want to brighten things up with a little visual inspiration and, of course, a recipe to fuel your days. Smoothies have no boundaries. They don’t. Enjoy.
Fresh Start Smoothie Bowl
1 LG BOWL / 2 SM BOWLS
1 cup dark leafy greens of your choice
½ cup non-dairy milk, your choice
¼ cup cold water, more to thin as needed
1 banana, peeled and frozen
1 large zucchini, cut into 2 inch chunks, frozen
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons nut butter of choice
1 teaspoon spirulina powder ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Toppings of choice. We love goji berries, cacao nibs and flaked coconut.
- Blend greens, milk, and water until well blended. Add the banana, zucchini, chia seeds, almond butter spirulina and cinnamon and blend until smooth. Add additional water if needed to thin, though you’ll enjoy the smoothie bowl a bit on the thicker side!
- If using protein powder or seed mix, add at the very end (you don’t want to over blend protein powder).
- Pour into a bowl and sprinkle with your favorite toppings. Alternatively you can have this as a good ol’ fashioned smoothie!
