Protein needs

  • I was curious what the PN team thinks about daily protein needs. I lost a lot of weight on a higher protein/lower carbohydrate diet (I have PCOS), but have also worked with nutritionists that transitioned me to a plant-based diet (I still ate fish) and told me not to worry about carbs. Every trainer I’ve worked with has emphasized high quality animal proteins though…I’d love to have your opinions!

  • Hi! We recommend including protein at every meal, whether it’s from plants or animal products. In general, we recommend animal protein for most people since it can be hard to get enough protein and B12 from plants alone without proper planning and supplementation. That said, we encourage you to do what feels right for your body! We don’t suggest tracking or counting macros long-term but if you’re looking for a guideline to get started, try aiming for 15-20g at each meal. Your P20 Plate and P20 Pyramid can help!
