Tofu?

  • I usually only meat 3-4 times a week for dinner. Can we use tofu as a substitute for animal protein? Or should we be avoiding tofu, or soy in general, for the next 20 days? Thanks!

  • Hi Laura, Great question! Yes…you can use tofu as a substitute for animal protein. There is mixed research on consuming lots of soy but our stance at PN is organic, non-GMO soy is a healthy non-animal protein option. We definitely prefer tofu (and tempeh) over processed soy burgers, etc. You can find organic sprouted tofu at Trader Joes. Have you also tried tempeh? It has more protein than tofu and is simply made from grains, beans and nuts/seeds – another great non-meat option!
